Greetings Cumbria Group,
Newsletter 2/25.
Well its all happening now, season is in full swing, and we are a bit here there and everywhere – Magic.
So since the last Newsletter, we had a hotel based group weekend in Wales, organised by Anita and Mark, from memory good everything including Welsh Sunshine!
End of April, and had our epic trip across to the isle of Man, twelve cars in all, Mark and Anita in a cottage, Bruce and Joyce hotel based, and the rest of the crowd in a magnificent Air B&B in Castletown. Peter Bonsall, who gets the credit for this one, had been in contact with the local Register folk on the Island, and we met up with some of them for Dinner on our last evening, having touched base various times throughout our stay. We ate well in the B & B thanks mainly to Nan and of course Anne Whitehead, and all in all this was one of the best trips Doreen and I have done in 30 odd years of CG TR’ing – yes it was just that good.
May 8th, saw no less than five TR CG Cars on the Appleby Rotary Clubs, annual charity run. This ears it was actually, ‘Hands on’ organised by our very own Neil Marland! So I don’t need to tell you how good this day was, if you can try to make it next year, it’s a great day out and for a good cause too – what more can there be?
We have Steve and Ros to thank for our programmed June run, moved to the first Wednesday of the month, we were all over The Trough of Bowland, we touched
North Yorkshire as well as Lancashire, Cumberland and Westmorland.
Really good to welcome first time out with us, David and Christine Sunderland, and also we said ‘Hello’ again to Ray and Jo, with the lovely TR3A, welcome to you all, and look forward to seeing you again very soon.
…that bringing us nicely up to date, so to the next few weeks;-
Thursday June 19th, and Paul Higgins has done much work contacting all the other Triumph clubs with a view to making this a joint convoy run, to finish at Wray Car show, where we will have a dedicated parking area for all the models.
Meet is Rheged, bottom car park, 10.00AM for a run through the lakes to end at Wray about 2.00ish. catering tent will be open from then, ALL further info directly from Paul.
Sunday 29th June We have an extra day, Joint with Cleveland Group, rendezvous is noon at Brough, by the monument, you must bring a picnic, as we plan to head up to Middleton-in Teasdale, and then towards Alston stopping at the picnic area we have used before. From there down to Penrith via Garrigill, for a coffee at Rheged.
Cleveland may go on to Ullswater and over Kirkstone, we can stay with them or peel for home.
Nothing the first Sunday in July, because TR Fest is Saturday 12th.
You all know about this, and if you are booked in or not.
Very final information will come to you directly via email, with a planned bulleting roughly weekly from Red Rose Group. You already know that there will be a planned cake baking competition, (Or you can just buy something) and I imagine you are all busy thinking about that now. Information on a bring and buy, similar to those held at IWE in the past will be out shortly, (Small items only please, if it won’t go in a TR –then it’s too large!) Tombola, and there will be more.
As you know I offered to oversee the Hog Roast, and I am looking for some helpers to actually serve the filled rolls, say two helpers at a time, if anybody wants to put their names down – feel free, we will be asking across all the attendees, so a few folk will mean each only need do a short stint – I would hope!
We cannot arrive at Antrobus, (Postcode to follow) until 9.30, as the site needs ‘Pegging out’ and after registration and refreshments, cars will leave on there designated runs by 10.30 ish, it all seems to be very well thought through.
Looked at meeting up along the M6 corridor, but when I look at who is coming from where think its easier to make our own way, and catch up on the site.
Finally, don’t forget that Cumbria Group, has its own Whatsapp Group, if you are not yet included, just let me know.
As ever, any questions just ask.
