LVG go to IOM Festival

5 cars from the Group booked to attend this September 2025 event as far back as March 2024. Yes you read it right, the IOM Festival of Motoring gets booked up well in advance. Scenic Car Tours arrange everything and around 300 cars take part. They organise the whole weekend to ensure for a classic car filled few days. The IOM really buys into the festival, by closing roads to allow the classics to drive routes not always available and ensure the weekend is a spectacular of all things Classic. An escorted drive around the islands TT circuit is included and shows how fearless the riders must be to drive their 2 wheeled vehicles at such a fast pace around what are mostly public roads (obviously closed to the public when they use it).

Unfortunately one LVG car had to drop out at the very last minute, due to a participants health issue, but the 4 cars and 8 occupants had a great time. The weekend started with some very wet weather, but it dried out as the weekend progressed. There was a theme of “Topless” for this years event and despite the rain many got their hoods down and entered the spirit of topless motoring. Our very own GL had been threatening all year that his roof of his Surrey would be coming off, but in the end the weather forecast won and only 3 of the 4 cars managed open air touring.

A few mechanical issues were encountered along the way, but all cars were quickly sorted and back on the road, with everyone making it home safely under their own steam.

A fantastic week away with great company. Next year some LVG’ers have already signed up to go to Laon Historique in May, also with Scenic Car Tours.
