Trent Group Report 359 (Oct/Nov 2025)

On Sunday 8 June the Trent Group had a club stand at the Nottingham Motor Show at Wollaton Hall & Deer Park on the outskirts of Nottingham. This show is becoming increasingly popular, featuring stands from local clubs and marques such as MG and Jaguar alongside an eclectic mix of classic vehicles – both traditional and modern. Six TRs were displayed – two TR4s and four TR6s. An enjoyable day chatting to classic owners and members of the public. The day was cool and cloudy, but remained dry – although some of us caught a shower on the way home.

The search for a new monthly venue continued through June, July and August with Ian Viles and Barry Pochin visiting various potential locations. We concluded that a change of day would be required as many pubs are busy in the latter half of the week – and choice is limited when car parking is factored in. Ideally, we wanted a venue that offered good food and space in the car park for tyre kicking. Our current venue offers the former, but not the latter. By August a favourite had emerged – The Festival Inn at Trowell – located centrally in the Trent area with a large car park. A test meeting was held on Tuesday 19 August and this proved successful with a return to our traditional summer format of optional food, drinks and chat around our cars outside. We will move to The Festival Inn from October – meeting on the third Tuesday of the month.
