A small group of TVG members attended the Le Mans Classic in early July, camping with our friends the Triumph Sports Six Club who run an excellent camp site right beside the circuit at Terte Rouge. The weather was good for the first three days but sunday saw a lot of rain although it didn't stop the racing. The spectacle of cars from the inception of the meetings in 1923 through to the 1980's racing through 24 hours is well worth the trip. The attached image shows the classic Le Mans Start and there's a Peerless in there somwhere! The Bromley Pageant, now held at Ardingly because of ULEZ, was attended by Thames Valley, London and South Downs groups no shortage of familiar faces. Writes Keith Cooper. A large and interesting selection of cars were on show and the main entertainment in the arena were the Tigers Motorcycle Display Team featuring riders age 5-16. They put on a good show but Evil Knievel is a hard act to follow. Plenty of autojumble stands; how much you liked these probably depended on whether you found that elusive part that you needed. Problems? The queue to get in and if you left it late then probably the queue to get out. August will also see the Cranleigh and Capel shows which are always well supported by TVG members. The delayed Thames Valley Group AGM will be held on sunday 31st August at the Surrey Oaks, commencing at 2 o'clock. Sadly our group leader Kent Sandiford will be stepping down. A full report will appear in TR Action 360.Our regular meetings are at the Stepping Stones pub in Westhumble, Dorking (RH5 6BS) on the third Wednesday of each month from 20:00 and our Sunday lunchtime meetings on the last Sunday of the month at the Surrey Oaks (RH5 5DZ), starting at 12:00.
